What's in a name.
So why LSD? It is undoubtedly a name with some disruptive connotations, and we like that. For us, though, it is a philosophy taken from the sport that conveys how we see cycling and the outdoor experience. Turning on the mind, the body, and the spirit using a simple, fundamental, tried, and true training technique—Long Slow Distance.
At the beginning of every season, professional bicycle racers, after taking a well-deserved break, start their training for another year of grueling racing. This is when teams gather at warm places close to picturesque mountains and beaches around the world. The training begins with long slow rides in the countryside. These rides are a time to "wake up the legs" and create the community – the heart and soul of the team. Riders share stories of last year's racing season and their personal lives off the bike. It is also without the high intensity of the months to come so everyone experiences the joy of cycling.
LSD believes this is what cycling is all about – waking up our legs AND our minds, connecting with our communities, and enjoying the natural world. This is where our brand lives.
